DESCRIPTION

CHI·OT

/SHēō/

noun

1. An intelligent race of mammals with snouts, an acute sense of hearing, and large ears that live in groups.

"Chiot are very resilient."

The chiot (plural: chiot) are short mammalian creatures that stand between 15-50 cm tall, are intelligent, and bear a resemblance to both puppies and bunnies. They are known for their ability to fly and glide short distances with the use of their large, wing-like ears. Chiot are easily capable of walking on two legs, but most prefer running on all fours.

Despite their size, chiot are incredibly resilient and known to survive even the harshest of Skaia's known environments. They are quick to adapt, and in more recent times their species has started to split into two subcategories: those with larger ears but weaker legs, which are more suited to flight, and those with smaller ears but stronger legs, which are more adept at ground maneuvers.

The only known chiot population resides in Mana Village, a small settlement located in the northeastern reaches of Skaia. Their society is not very technologically advanced, having not even discovered electricity yet. Things like movies, television, computers, cell phones, and other forms of electronic entertainment are far beyond their reach.

Chiot are all named after various foods and drinks in accordance to the naming custom in Mana. Food is one of the chiot's greatest joys in life, but chiot from Mana's early days often found themselves viewed as a food source for many hostiles. This naming custom is in part an homage to their society's struggles in the food chain and the hope that their children will not go hungry in times when food is scarce.

NAMING

Chiot must be named after any food that is safe for humans, dogs, cats, or rabbits to consume. If it's not safe for any of these creatures to eat, then it is a invalid name!

Chiot can be named after raw ingredients that are not intended to be eaten by themselves; such as flours, cooking syrups, and cooking oils. Chiot can also be named after any in-universe food, such as Torumu Steak or Roast Bukbuck.

Chiot can have more non-specific food names, such as Pepper, Spice, Mushroom, Berry, etc. However, names like Dog Food, Cat Food, or Rabbit Food are too general and are not considered acceptable names.

COLOR AND MARKING OPTIONS

Chiot have a range of one to three colors in their fur. Their fur is normally an earthy or natural color that derives from brown, white, yellow, black, grey, red, or beige - nothing flashy like neon pink or green. Their paw pads, noses and tongues are exempt from the three color rule and may be any color you wish, and changed at any time. You can also give it spots, but not any complex markings.

Simple markings like spots, stripes, dapples, rings, etc. are acceptable. Hearts are allowed, but must have a natural, asymmetrical shape. Note that the color of markings count toward the three color limit.

Heterochromia of the iris is allowed in any incarnation, be it two different colored eyes or two colors in a single eye. While it is meant to be an uncommon trait, you are free to apply it to as many characters as you wish. Eye color does not count toward the three color limit as the limit only applies to fur color. The pupil may also be shaped in any form you wish.

Additional colors and markings can be added after the creation process by purchasing dyes from Latte's Salon and Boutique.

CUSTOMIZATION OPTIONS

Not all chiot look the same, even if they are the same species! Along with colors, tail and ear types also vary between each individual. There are six starter ear and four starter tail types you can choose from to create your chiot.
